H.O.P.E. would never have been created if it wasn’t for a little dog named “Lucky.” Lucky was a stray who wound up at the Saratoga County Animal Shelter. She was a great little terrier mix, but was passed up for adoption because she was so flea-infested, she had chewed off most of her hair. Lucky was scheduled to be euthanized because it was believed she had mange
When Lucky was adopted, her new guardian saw all of those other sad faces at the shelter and wanted to help them, too. One by one, she’d adopt animals that seemed hopeless, and foster each one in her own home until she could place them with a kind family. It was slow going, and she really felt that every one of them deserved a home of their own. Why not find other people who love animals, and would be willing to provide foster care, so more animals could be saved? Hence, the idea for H.O.P.E. was born.
Today H.O.P.E. is a 501c3 not-for-profit charitable organization made up of many dedicated volunteers. While our focus continues to be working together to find homes for abandoned pets in Saratoga County, we also provide many other services. See our Community Outreach page to find out more.
