đź’śIn Memoriam: Nerođź’ś

In July 2017 Kelly’s family adopted Nero. He settled quickly into his forever home and was such a happy guy. Nero worked hard with GFK9 to become a service dog for Kelly’s son, Alex. Nero went to school with Alex and intuitively knew how to best serve Alex’s needs. “Nero is my son’s world”, Kelly told us. There are no coincidences in life, and this was surely meant to be a match! The love that Nero gave his family equaled the love the family gave sweet Nero.

With great sadness, Nero was diagnosed with Advanced Congestive Heart Failure. Kelly told us the news, “We had no idea. He just loves my son so much. Nero was just putting his all into his work until one day his heart value ruptured. Thankfully Albany was able to save him, and he has been with meds – still as devoted as ever. We just adopted a new Pup from Georgia (Cleopatra) to train with Nero’s help.”

In July 2020, Nero passed away. “He was a sweet boy and did his job protecting Alex to the end. Sleep well sweet prince, our lives are better that you were in it. Thank you, HOPE, for allowing this sweet boy be a part of our lives.” In getting updates and messages from Kelly, it is beyond evident that Nero was LOVED whole-heartedly!!

Goodnight sweet Prince Nero! HOPE is so thankful for you, his adopters, who gave him a life of love and purpose. Thank you for sharing this news with us. Surely you will remember him well.
