In June 2019, a very sweet and special girl was eased from our world. Suri came into HOPE rescue some months back and was an instant favorite of anyone fortunate to meet her. She especially tugged at the heartstrings of Cathy, who heads the HOPE dog program and became Suri’s foster mom.
Suri was a senior dog with twisted front legs, which caused her to struggle some when walking. It never stopped her from being sure to greet and love when anyone arrived, or to ascend the dog ramp when treats might be available in the kitchen! If you were at Cathy’s house, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Suri was following you around or laying near you. Even though I doubt Cathy would have considered allowing her be adopted away (and would have taken some doing to convince Cathy’s granddaughter and Suri’s special human, Maya) it was determined after a month or so that she was likely a Hospice foster and not made available for adoption.
This sweet soul will be greatly missed. Anyone who met Suri is surely thankful to share some moments with her before her passing, and we are all grateful the last part of her life was full of loving, being loved, and living her best life.
